Cops
Today Matalie and I were laying in her bed playing dolls when she heard the TV on downstairs so she asked me what was on. Jared had been watching "Cops" so I told her it was one of daddy's favorite shows about police officers. That conversation pretty much ended there except for her telling me she didn't lie Daddy's show and when we went back to watch TV she wanted me to put it on her "movies" (everything on TV is a movie according to her). A little while later her and Jared were at the table eating lunch and he looked at me and said, "Did you tell Matalie my favorite show was about the post office?" Haha! I just love how little kids mess things like that up. Post office/ police officer, same thing right? :)

What we have been up to: Seen through the eyes of my Blackberry
I should just go ahead and say that we have not been up to much around here. We have over 7 inches of snow and this former Louisiana girl still isnt use to driving in the snow and ice. Needless to say, we are staying put in our pj's for probably a week. We have had to get creative with our time so that we dont die of boredom. I guess that just goes for me since MJ lives in a kindom far, far away anyway and MR doesnt care one iota as long as he has food.
Miss Priss tells me about 100x's a day that she is a "Momma" too. As you can see, her "baby" is almost just as big as she is.
As I said before, MJ lives in a kindom far, far away. It's what we like to call a vivid imagination. I guess Belle and Ariele were tired of their far away kindgom so they decided to take a little camping trip.
Instead of getting all bundled up today to head outside, we brought the outside in. The kids had a total blast. They spent time scooping the snow from bowl to bowl, bulldozing it into piles and eating it (mainly MR). At least my floors were somewhat cleaner when they were done playing! Speaking of floors, I really hate my kitchen floor. We have the tile bought and just waiting for us to lay it but instead it sits in the garage. I may have given Jared too long of a honey do list. :)
Last but not least, DO NOT confuse your thumb for green onions. If you do happen to confuse you thumb with green onions, try not to do it with the sharpest serated knife you own. It has definitly made me handicapped this week. I can't type normal, I can't wash my hair very well, and MR is obsesed with my bandaid. I can promise I wont be confusing my thumb for green onions anytime soon. I guess at least until the next time I need to cut green onions. :)

Snowscream!
I scream, you scream, we all scream for snowcream!
All you need for snowcream is some fresh snow (minus dog poop!), 14oz of condensed milk and one teaspoon of vanilla. What is so great about snowcream is that if it starts to melt, just add more snow and its good to go. It taste almost exactly like homemade vanilla ice cream. It was our first time to try it but I can say that it definitely wont be our last.

Re- Prupsoe & Re-Use
I have completely morphed into a person I never imagined I would be. A stay at home mom with a sewing machine. If I were to have guessed, I would have probably said there would be a better chance of me walking on the moon then the above statement. I wouldnt trade my life for anything becuase I get to stay home with our 2 precious babies but it is definitly different then I EVER imagined. So, here I am with a sewing machine and a shower curtain. I was going to toss the shower curtain but then I decided we could just use it as a drop cloth when we painted. The more it sat in a pile, the more I decided that it was too pretty to be splattered in paint. That my friends is how we went from shower curtain to dress. I need to run to Hobby Lobby to pick up some white ribbon for it because I just have white bias tape in there temporarily just to show how it is suppose to look. Once I have the right white ribbon and maybe an initial monogrammed on it, she will be good to go. I really wish I would have gotten a picture of the shower curtain hanging up when it was actually being used as a shower curtain but that was many moons ago.
And while I am posting my latest designs, I will go ahead and post the latest dress I made for MJ. She is wearing a black shirt on under it becuase she was just trying it on to make sure it fit. It is more of a spring time dress so hopefully it will warm up soon so she can wear it.

Merry Christmas!
We had a great Christmas here at the Pickett household! Jared was off Friday for Christmas eve and is suppose to be off on Monday but it looks like he is going to have to go in for a few hours. He is off this Friday for the 31st and the following Monday to celebrate the New Year. We were excited to have him off on Christmas Eve because he and Matalie spent alot of time in the kitchen cooking. They made a batch of chocolate chip cookies that we delivered to a couple of neighbors. He also made some fudge but he looks for any excuse to make fudge. He has the fudge making down to a precise art.
Matalie was so excited about Santa this year. He was all she talked about for the past 2 weeks. About 4 days before Christmas she started telling everybody that she wanted Santa to bring her a pillow pet. Lovely how she mentioned this just 4 days before Christmas, right?! Santa left her a little note telling her that he was flying to fast and her pillow pet fell out of his sleigh. He left her some money to buy a pillow pet the next time she goes to the store. Now, everytime we drive down the road, she tells us all to look to see if we can find where the pillow pet fell out at. She was also thrilled that Santa ate the cookies and drank the milk that she left out for him. Maddux could care less about Santa but was thrilled with all the paper. He is ALL boy. We took down all the Christmas deocrations yesterday so I put him upstairs while I vacuumed up the mess. I went upstairs to check on him and I found him happy as a lark playing in the toilet. He is going to give me gray hairs at an early age.
After we opened presents and lounged around the house for a little, we went to Charlee's Nana and PopPop's house for Christmas lunch. The girls had a great time playing together and the adults had a great time visiting. They were definitly the next best thing to being with family. We had a great Christmas and it could have only been better if we could have gotten Matalie to understand it was Jesus's birthday and not God's. Anytime someone would ask who's birthday it was she would sream, "God's!!!!!!" Mabye next year.......

Maddux Rockett is 9 months!
My baby is growing too fast! He is a busy little dude these days. He can crawl stairs like it's nobody's business and he loves his sister more then anything. She returns the love full force. He weighs 19 pounds and I have no idea how long he is. I guess I need to go get the tape measure out. He says Momma, Dadda, Bubba, bye bye and Pop. He has been saying these for a while but Pop and bye bye were added at the end of October. He also loves to wave bye bye anytime someone is leaving his sight or he is going to bed. Speaking of going to bed, he has been sleeping like a champ. We usually put him down around 9 and he has been sleeping until after 10 the next morning! He usually wakes up around 5 or 6 for some milk but we can totally handle that with him sleeping for 13 hours. He is able to balance if we stand him up but he doesn't get that he needs to move his feet to walk. He lunges into your lap instead. In the past week or so he has been refusing baby food. If it isn't coming off of our plate, he doesn't want it. We are so blessed to have him as our baby boy although he wont be a baby for too much longer. As a matter of fact, he even has a big boy haircut! Matalie has been wanting to spike his hair everyday so most days we do it.
Deer Slayer
When we were down south for Thanksgiving, Jared had a chance to go hunting for his first time. He and Dad went the first night and didn't see anything. Jared went back the next night and before he could even make it to the stand he saw 3 doe just standing there. He said the first deer started stomping her foot on the ground and stared at him so he decided she would be his target. She was also the biggest so that helped the decision. He must have had good aim becuase it only took one shot and she was down. Jared, me, Dad, Angel and Grandpa loaded up on the RTV to go get his kill.
Jared was a little taken back when Dad started rubbing the blood all over his face! I had warned him the night before that if he shot a deer that this would happen but he said that since I didnt have it for my first deer that he wouldnt either. HA!
