Re- Prupsoe & Re-Use

I have completely morphed into a person I never imagined I would be. A stay at home mom with a sewing machine. If I were to have guessed, I would have probably said there would be a better chance of me walking on the moon then the above statement. I wouldnt trade my life for anything becuase I get to stay home with our 2 precious babies but it is definitly different then I EVER imagined. So, here I am with a sewing machine and a shower curtain. I was going to toss the shower curtain but then I decided we could just use it as a drop cloth when we painted. The more it sat in a pile, the more I decided that it was too pretty to be splattered in paint. That my friends is how we went from shower curtain to dress. I need to run to Hobby Lobby to pick up some white ribbon for it because I just have white bias tape in there temporarily just to show how it is suppose to look. Once I have the right white ribbon and maybe an initial monogrammed on it, she will be good to go. I really wish I would have gotten a picture of the shower curtain hanging up when it was actually being used as a shower curtain but that was many moons ago.

And while I am posting my latest designs, I will go ahead and post the latest dress I made for MJ. She is wearing a black shirt on under it becuase she was just trying it on to make sure it fit. It is more of a spring time dress so hopefully it will warm up soon so she can wear it.

Merry Christmas!

We had a great Christmas here at the Pickett household! Jared was off Friday for Christmas eve and is suppose to be off on Monday but it looks like he is going to have to go in for a few hours. He is off this Friday for the 31st and the following Monday to celebrate the New Year. We were excited to have him off on Christmas Eve because he and Matalie spent alot of time in the kitchen cooking. They made a batch of chocolate chip cookies that we delivered to a couple of neighbors. He also made some fudge but he looks for any excuse to make fudge. He has the fudge making down to a precise art.

Matalie was so excited about Santa this year. He was all she talked about for the past 2 weeks. About 4 days before Christmas she started telling everybody that she wanted Santa to bring her a pillow pet. Lovely how she mentioned this just 4 days before Christmas, right?! Santa left her a little note telling her that he was flying to fast and her pillow pet fell out of his sleigh. He left her some money to buy a pillow pet the next time she goes to the store. Now, everytime we drive down the road, she tells us all to look to see if we can find where the pillow pet fell out at. She was also thrilled that Santa ate the cookies and drank the milk that she left out for him. Maddux could care less about Santa but was thrilled with all the paper. He is ALL boy. We took down all the Christmas deocrations yesterday so I put him upstairs while I vacuumed up the mess. I went upstairs to check on him and I found him happy as a lark playing in the toilet. He is going to give me gray hairs at an early age.

After we opened presents and lounged around the house for a little, we went to Charlee's Nana and PopPop's house for Christmas lunch. The girls had a great time playing together and the adults had a great time visiting. They were definitly the next best thing to being with family. We had a great Christmas and it could have only been better if we could have gotten Matalie to understand it was Jesus's birthday and not God's. Anytime someone would ask who's birthday it was she would sream, "God's!!!!!!" Mabye next year.......

Maddux Rockett is 9 months!

My baby is growing too fast! He is a busy little dude these days. He can crawl stairs like it's nobody's business and he loves his sister more then anything. She returns the love full force. He weighs 19 pounds and I have no idea how long he is. I guess I need to go get the tape measure out. He says Momma, Dadda, Bubba, bye bye and Pop. He has been saying these for a while but Pop and bye bye were added at the end of October. He also loves to wave bye bye anytime someone is leaving his sight or he is going to bed. Speaking of going to bed, he has been sleeping like a champ. We usually put him down around 9 and he has been sleeping until after 10 the next morning! He usually wakes up around 5 or 6 for some milk but we can totally handle that with him sleeping for 13 hours. He is able to balance if we stand him up but he doesn't get that he needs to move his feet to walk. He lunges into your lap instead. In the past week or so he has been refusing baby food. If it isn't coming off of our plate, he doesn't want it. We are so blessed to have him as our baby boy although he wont be a baby for too much longer. As a matter of fact, he even has a big boy haircut! Matalie has been wanting to spike his hair everyday so most days we do it.

Deer Slayer

When we were down south for Thanksgiving, Jared had a chance to go hunting for his first time. He and Dad went the first night and didn't see anything. Jared went back the next night and before he could even make it to the stand he saw 3 doe just standing there. He said the first deer started stomping her foot on the ground and stared at him so he decided she would be his target. She was also the biggest so that helped the decision. He must have had good aim becuase it only took one shot and she was down. Jared, me, Dad, Angel and Grandpa loaded up on the RTV to go get his kill.

Jared was a little taken back when Dad started rubbing the blood all over his face! I had warned him the night before that if he shot a deer that this would happen but he said that since I didnt have it for my first deer that he wouldnt either. HA!

Hopefully a return???

I am hoping to return to blogging and doing it regularly. I think my biggest thing is that when I get ready to blog, I have to go find the camera to get the memory card for pictures. I had the same issue with this post but I decided that I had a memory card in my computer and I would just see what kind of random pictures I had on it. I have lots of updating to do because we have done a ton since I last posted including Jared going hunting for his first time and then killing a deer on his second trip. He is glad he can scratch that off of his bucket list. Without further a do (is that right?? ado? a do? udo? Oh well, you get the point) a bunch of random pics.

Matalie and Maddux having a little "fort time" under our bed.

LaliePop and the kids when they came to visit and help out for my surgery.

Nothing better then a sink bath.

"T" and "D". Our little friends that hang out with us a few times a month while there mommy and Daddy are at work.

Maddux had a wardrobe malfunction. Angela, our neighbor was watching him for a little bit while I picked us up some dinner and he spilled water all over his clothes. All she has are two little girls so MR was lucky enough to be able to wear princess pj's.

Our very own, little princess.

Splish Splash My Car Needed a Bath!

With today being one of the last days of warm weather, Matalie and I decided to have a little car wash. Matalie might just have the skills needed to become the next employee of Rimes' Mobile Detailing! (Or not. I mean, you can kind of tell my truck got washed. At least in certain places. Haha.) No matter what, we had a great time savoring what could be one of the last nice and warm days before winter comes in with all it's vengeance.

Maddux is 6 months

This past week Maddux turned 6 months old. My baby boy is growing up tooooooo fast! Just in the past couple of weeks he has started to get on all 4's and try and crawl. He has mainly gotten the leg part of it figured out but hasn't realized he needs to move his hands as well. So what happens when you move your legs but not arms when crawling?......FACE PLANT. Its not pretty people. I think he will get it soon enough. He is also getting alot better at sitting up on his own. I think he will pretty much have that conquered before the end of the week. That boy is also a great eater. In the past month he has eaten mac and cheese, a Logan's roll,a pop tart and some hamburger helper. Did I mention he doesn't have a tooth in his mouth?? He is also obsessed with trying to get MJ's sippy cup. When he does manage to get it, he goes to town drinking whatever she has in there. We took him to the pediatrician for his checkup and he stats are:

Weight: 16 pounds 11 oz (25-50th percentile)
Height: 27 and 1/4 inches (75-90th percentile)
He got 1 shot which I believe what his HIB. Speaking of vaccines, Matalie was exposed to chickenpox at church on Sunday and has not received her vaccine for it so we are on high alert for chickenpox for the next 2 weeks. The little boy who had it, had his vaccination but still managed to get it. He had no signs or symptoms of it at church. They showed up on him on Monday after he had already exposed all the kids in the nursery. Oh well, I guess we can go ahead and get them and get that out of our way.

Disclaimer* Matalie was 16 pounds 8oz and 28 inches long at 9 months!

Back From Vacation!

I know there is no excuse for taking a nearly 2 month break from blogging but I can try and appease you with as many excuses that you will allow. First off, we had a trip to Louisiana, Mississippi and a pit stop in Memphis that took us about a week and half. Then about 2 weeks later we headed to Dallas for a week of training for Jared. On our way there we stopped in Tulsa to visit the McCains. After the training was over we headed to Houston to see Amanda and the kids. Well, when we finally got home, I realized that my computer charger was still on vacation in Houston. I guess it needed a little longer of a vacation due to the fact that it got sent out in the mail and was returned to sender for being 22 cents short on postage. Mr. Charger finally made it home from vacation but this momma has been busy with 2 sweet kiddos that keep my way busy.

While we were in Mississippi, we were able to see Selah in concert at Dad's church and it was AMAZING. We had a great time at the concert and it was even better being able to go to dinner with them and really get to talk to them.

I will try and be a better blogger! No more 2 month vacations. Well......maybe not. No promises.

4 months!

Happy 4 months Maddux Rockett (a few days late! Oops!). We love you very much and we love watching you grow and change everyday. We took you to the Dr this week and you weigh almost exactly 14 pounds. You were 13 pounds, 15 and 3/4 ounces so we will just round up to 14. You were in the 25th percentile for weight so you aren't as chunky monkey as we thought you would be. You are 25 and 3/4 inches long which puts you int he 80th percentile! I think you are going to be like your daddy, tall and skinny.
This month you have gotten really good at rolling over and like to do it as a game. You roll over and Daddy flips you back over and you just smile so big. Ya'll do this over and over! You are also very bad about rolling over when I am trying to change your diaper. As soon as i get your diaper off you flop yourself over which makes it hard for me to clean your booty. I think you are a little stinker. You are also very interested in your hands and love to put them in your mouth. I feel like we are all the time taking them out of your mouth. You also love to grab MJ's hair. Anytime she gets anywhere close to you, you grab a big handful of her hair and don't let go. I guess it is your way of getting back at her for all the aggravating she does! Ha! She loves you so much and wants to be in your face ALL the time. We love you Bubby boy and look forward to watching you grow for years to come.

Lisa, 25 North Louisiana

So I will be totally KILLED for doing this but oh well! I can take a killing. Ha! I am linking up to Show Us Your Life on Kelly's Korner and this week it is show us you single friends. I am going to show Lisa my Best Friend for 12 years.

She is a 1st grade teacher in Ouachita Parish and does a great job. She loves kids more then anyone I know and truly loves her job. She is very family and friend oriented and loves to just hang out and have a good time. She is a Christian and wants a husband who loves the Lord.

She loves to be silly, watch movies and play board games with friends. She is very loyal and will do anything for anyone. She has never been married and is waiting for God to let the perfect guy "fall" in her lap. She is very outgoing but reserved at the same time so she will be "chawed" when she finds out I did this.

You can contact her at lisa.sims@live.com

I stole these pics off of her facebook page and that's why they are all different sizes.

Maddux's first swim!

We went to the pool this week and Maddux was wide awake so we decided to let him take a little swim with us. He wasn't ecstatic about it but he didn't scream either. He mainly just chewed on his hand the whole time. He wasn't a fan of the sun being in his eyes so we tried to keep him faced away. We let him swim for about 30 minutes and he shriveled up like a little raisin and was too precious. On another note, MJ wore floaties on her arms for the first time today and she did REALLY good swimming with them. I was so shocked because she swam all over by herself not wanting me to hold her. That is VERY uncharacteristic of her so I was thrilled.

Lisa, the kids and I were on our way to the Legends in Kansas when I thought I saw a gigantic dog in the back of a Honda Fit. Well, when we got closer I discovered it was not a dog but instead a horse! How random is that???? I think we have laughed about it everyday since then!
